It is never too late to heal your heart.
When you have a loss and feel grief people may say, “Move on with your life.” But no one tells us how to first heal a broken heart. The emotions from loss and grief move on with us unless we know how recover from them. The Grief Recovery Method® program makes healing possible, by providing a safe space, information, tools, and steps to take toward wholeness and recovery from the pain of loss or grief.
“It is never too late to heal a broken heart!”
Often times, we act on myths we have heard from friends or family:
-
Time heals all wounds
-
Replace the loss
-
Grieve alone
-
Be strong for others
-
Bury your feelings
-
Stay busy
People mean well, but these things do not help us recover from the pain we feel.
Experiences of loss generate feelings which are normal and natural. The problem is that we have been taught to believe that these feelings are abnormal, unnatural or contrary to our faith. Sometimes we think we just “need to be strong,” or we choose to ignore them, thinking our emotions are unimportant and will not affect us.
This is true whether your loss is from:
-
End of a relationship with a person, group or an institution
-
Loss of a career, or employment change
-
Loss of trust, loss of faith
-
Loss of safety, loss of certainty
-
Change in roles, change in major life-expectations, change in health
-
Death, divorce, breakups

Testimonial
On 7/17/23 M.S. completed the online Grief Recovery Method Ⓡ program with me. She gave me permission to share this transcript of a closing conversation we had when the program was finished. I hope you will read it and consider the Grief Recovery Method for yourself.
What made you decide to try the Grief Recovery Method?
I was looking forward to understanding what the Grief Recovery Method was, not only in healing myself with the recent death of a parent, but also considering some of the other losses in my life.
If someone said, “I've heard this name, Grief Recovery, I don't know what it is,” what would you tell them?
The Grief Recovery Method for me was a way to complete my own broken heart. Our sessions were not meant to be counseling sessions, but it was a place where I was able to find healing from a grief experience that I didn't even know existed as deeply as it did.
What would you say to someone who asked you if signing up for the Grief Recovery Method was worth it?
I would say it's definitely worth it because none of us like being stuck in that place of brokenness and pain. I found tools that are helpful to bring recovery and relief, and I think that for me, it was an exciting discovery. I think going through the program offered me some tools for my own benefit, and I'm hoping they will help me to be more sensitive to others who are experiencing grief.
Would you recommend David Brinker as a trained Grief Recovery Method Specialist to present the program to others?
Yes, I absolutely would. I appreciated you being authentic and honest with me. So, it was therefore very easy for me to be the same with you.
Thank you. Some people ask, "Why is it eight weeks long?" What would your answer be to that question?
I think that emotionally it's important to take time in between the sessions to give such deep thought. There is a breadth of the material that's covered. I wouldn't shortchange any of those things and it just really wouldn't have been possible to cover it all in a week or two. I think the timing was really just about right.
